When I first heard Black Swan’s LP Black Swan in Eight Movements (which I included on my top fifteen of 2010), I thought to myself “great! an ambient band that I really like! like, really like!” But, soon after I learned that they’re considered drone. Can’t win ‘em all. Regardless, this stuff is great. At times subtly melodic and melancholic, at other times dissonant and eerie. Listening to it really loud through headphones while walking through crowded city streets is… bizarre. Here’s the opening track “Part I” of that album.
